All Our Yesterdays

… trust me they aren’t as good - or innocent - as we think.

It’s never too late to have a happy childhood.

Tom Robbins - Still Life with Woodpecker

“Happy,” maybe – but what about “scary” …

… this Chap wondered?

Because in a casual cruise through the wilds of Imgur,

Cough - you dont often read ‘casual cruise’ and ‘imgur’ in the same sentence!

… this Chap came across this discussion – on that most innocent and friendly of childhood story characters, Thomas The Tank Engine.

This young innocent seems very close…

– an innocent tale from  the 1930s, written by an English vicar illustrating some aspects of his enthusiasm for railways. Or was it?

Sorry - say what … ‘English Vicar’, ‘1930s’, ‘Innocent’?

Or am I just a malcontent?

Really? That raised some eyebrows with this Chap, too, as with other commentators asking for sources for this disturbing claim. The poster duly obliged… At which point, another contributor to the thread pointed out, in very shocked tones, an even more worrying detail. Doubts were expressed. Questions raised. But as OP helpfully pointed out, this is entirely consistent with the early premises of the series.

And another thing…

Thinking perhaps this nameless horror had come to an end, Chap prepared to move on. But it was not to be – not that easily, for another contributor offered the final, chilling twist…

What a world to live like that.

Just imagine …

Can’t.

Oh wait … I see what you did there.
