BBC iPlayer For All … Not Yet

I understand the BBC license stuff, I really do. Bits like where it has been government subsidised and that the benefit of their content is for the British tax payer etc etc.

But.

We live in a brave new world. Why can’t iPlayer be made available globally - for a fee, so that the content gets wider distribution and the Beeb gets more income? Might even free them up of the need for the license fee. THAT would set the cat amongst the pigeons.

And failing that, why can’t they work out how I, as a UK citizen who happens to live in the USA, could get access to this rich content. It’s not as if I can’t get a lot of the content on DVDs, DCDs and tapes already ….
