Perception .. Is It Reality? ..

”The level of ambition out here (California) coupled with the complete lack of irony just blows my mind.”

A fellow Brit passing through ‘the area’.

He went on to suggest that the perception of the UK and California are identical in how it is the precise opposite of the reality.

He contended that Brits are often viewed as uptight, stuck up, class ridden, rule driven and inflexible. California meanwhile seems to be viewed as laid back and free wheeling.

Reality? British irreverence, sarcasm and self deprecation is well known - whilst in California ‘Political Correctness’ is a rampant disease with gender and racial inequality that boggles the mind and a class system that leaves the UK in the dust.

Caveat … when he said ‘California’ - I think he really means the SF Bay Area.

Do you agree? Disagree? Discuss.

P.S. … I did like that turn of phrase.
