Robert Scoble Should Pay Attention To Dave Winer
… and not just pay lip service.

After giving it some thought I have completely moved to Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/RobertScoble
I am putting TONS of great content into there. If you aren’t on Facebook, I’m also on Twitter at http://www.twitter.com/scobleizer or on Google+ at https://www.google.com/+Scobleizer
Someday I might come back to the blog, but the world has moved and it is on social media.
And then nothing, until December 11th 2015, when he wrote
Maybe I should fire up my blog again. I was thinking of doing that as a repository of my newsletter. http://www.scobleizer.com
Oh, and thanks to Dori Smith and Dave Winer. The two of them convinced me to start a blog (they were speakers at a conference I was helping plan back then, working for Dan Shafer). I thought blogging wasn’t important enough to add a session about it to our conference. Now there are conferences on blogging, even a famous one just for women bloggers. But they got me to start and Dave’s blog at http://www.scripting.com is still at the top of my reading list.
As Rackspace’s Futurist, Robert should not just read Dave Winer - but pay attention and act accordingly. Maybe even using his clout to try to move companies back to an open non silo web.
As it stands right now the stuff people post to Facebook is fairly useless outside of Facebook.
I agree. Dave is a wise man. I left Facebook a while back because (outside of the groups) it added zero value to my life - and in many ways detracted. Not to mention that what they are doing today - and we are allowing - is dangerous. Remember Google Reader ?
That said - I am looking at returning - if I can be sure that I can properly use it as a channel to build my readership. We will see. I certainly won’t be posting anything original there. This property you are looking at now is my core - that gently fans out into those social worlds that
- I have no control over
- Have no interest in me
- Might go away
- Might change the rules
- Make it hard for you to find anything - outside of scrolling through the timeline
