The Future of Business

Just as humans are becoming increasingly connected to systems — and each other — machines are increasingly being built with integrated sensors that allow them to connect to and share data with other machines. It might not be immediately apparent to every company, but this is the kind of technological shift that can allow an organization to digitize a critical business process, or even overhaul its entire business model to leapfrog its competition. Seeing that future is the role of the CIO, according to James Canton, CEO of the Institute for Global Futures think tank. “CIOs, as the futurists in their companies, have to tell the CMOs, CEO and board chairmen that this is how the company will be transformed,” he tells CIO Journal.

Hmmm - me - I think  this is the job of the company - not the individual. The visionary needs to rise to the occasion, not the role.
