Twitter - Lemon - or Orange ?

When I read that

Twitter (is) handling 1.6 billion search queries per month, more than Bing and Yahoo combined …

I am sceptical.

Why? Because if I go to search for something I am actively searching - find me ‘stuff’ about Constantinople … Etc

The thing about Twitter is

  • If I have got saved searches - are they counted, even though I am not searching ? How often ?
  • If I search three times to find one person - not about them - just to find them … How many times is that counted ?
  • If I search and search and search simply to find stuff in THEIR system that if it was designed better - I wouldn’t need to search - is that counted ?

Take all that out - THEN - and only then - should we compare and contrast otherwise you are comparing lemons to oranges.

What do you think ?
